Service & Process

What's included, what we use, and what to expect on install day.

What's included in a Dallas Drain Guys French drain install?

A typical exterior system includes:

  • Camera/slope diagnosis — we confirm the cause before we dig
  • Trench & grade — proper fall to a legal discharge point
  • Washed stone + fabric — sized for clay, not cheap filler
  • Correct pipe & fittings — heavy-duty, not big-box flex
  • Backfill, grade restore & sod — left clean, photo-documented

Your written, line-item estimate spells out exactly what's included for your lot.

Exterior vs interior French drain — which do I need?

Exterior relieves water outside the foundation before it reaches your walls — best for most Dallas homes with yard pooling or gutter overflow. Interior captures water beneath the slab before it enters finished space.

Do you do camera drain inspections?

Yes. We run a camera to pinpoint clogs, breaks, root intrusion, bellies, and infiltration — so you fix the right thing the first time. You'll see the footage with us on site.

What materials do you use?

Heavy-duty pipe, washed stone, proper filter fabric and solid fittings sized for Texas storms — not thin-wall flex. Built for 10-year performance.

How long does an install take?

Most single-family yard/perimeter systems are 1–2 days. Larger lots or commercial runs can be 2–4 days. Your estimate includes a clear time window.

Do I need to be home during the work?

You don't have to be — many customers provide gate access. We're licensed & insured, uniformed, and we do a walk-through before we leave.

What access do you need?

Clear side-gate access (typically 4 ft), and access to the areas that hold water — foundation perimeter, low spots, downspout tie-ins, and the planned discharge path.

Specialty Services

Beyond standard French drains — yard systems, storm pipe, commercial.

Do you do yard drainage & grading?

Yes — catch basins, channel drains, grading and swales for soggy lawns, standing water and erosion. Usually tied into the same discharge as your perimeter system.

What about storm pipe & gutter tie-ins?

We run underground storm pipe that carries roof, gutter and yard water safely to a proper discharge — no more downspouts pooling at the foundation.

Do you handle commercial drainage?

Yes — heavy-duty systems for buildings, parking lots and multi-family. Sized for volume, traffic and code compliance.

Can you fix a failed or undersized system?

Often, yes. We see undersized flex pipe, no stone, or bad fall that fails in the first heavy rain. We camera the existing line, show you what's wrong, and rebuild it correctly.

Do you also do foundation repair?

No — we're drainage specialists. We solve the water that causes foundation movement. If you need piers, we'll refer a reputable partner and coordinate sequencing.

04

Texas Clay & Maintenance

Why DFW is different and how to keep your system working.

Why does Texas clay make drainage harder?

DFW clay is expansive — it swells when wet and shrinks when dry, holding water at the surface. That's why shallow, undersized systems fail. We set depth, stone and fall for clay, not sand.

How do I know I need a French drain?

Standing water 24–48 hours after rain, soggy strips along the foundation, mulch washing out, or a damp slab edge after storms are classic signs.

Will rain ruin a new yard after install?

No — we restore grade and lay sod to hold. First heavy rain is the test: you'll see water move to the discharge instead of pooling.

What maintenance does a French drain need?

Very little: keep grates clear of leaves/mulch, and keep downspouts tied in. We'll show you the cleanouts on your walk-through. No annual contract needed.

Where does the water go?

To a legal, low-point discharge — curb, storm tie-in, or daylight — with proper fall. We don't dump to a neighbor's lot or hide a bad outlet.

05
